Question Types Overview
One of the most important components of any survey tool is the variety and easy of use of its question answer types.
WebSurveyMaster has separated the question types into 7 easy to use intuitive categories, that default to the most common configuration, but allow full customization to present the question just the way you intended.

1. Single Question with Multiple Choices
Use this question type when you have a single question and a number of possible answer choices.
The default for this question type is to allow only one answer choice to be selected, the choices are displayed underneath the question in one vertical column, and the answer is required
1.1 Allow multiple answers
To allow more than one answer choice to be selected, check the 'Allow Multiple Answers' option in the optional formatting section
1.2 Drop down list of Choices
To display the list of choices as a drop down list, choose the 'Drop Down List' orientation option in the optional formatting section
1.3 Multiple Columns and Rows
The answer choices can be spread across multiple rows and columns, choose the orientation 'Horizontal' or 'Vertical' and then the number of 'Columns' or 'Rows' in the optional formatting section
1.4 Comment Textbox
To add a comment box, choose the 'Add additional Comment text box' option in the optional formatting section
You can optionally change the label text, as well as the visible height and width of the text box
1.5 Comment Textbox as a Choice
To add an answer choice that will display a comment box when selected, choose the 'Add additional Comment text box' option in the optional formatting section and check the 'Make comment field an Answer Choice' option.

1.6 Choices appear on the same line as the question
To make the answer choices appear on the same line as the question, choose the 'Display choices on the same line as the question' option in the optional formatting section.
2. Matrix of Questions with Multiple Choices
Use this question type when you have multiple related questions and a number of possible answer choices.
The default for this question type is to allow only one answer choice to be selected per question, the choices are displayed as a header row above the questions.
2.1 Allow Multiple Answers to each question
To allow more than one answer choice to be selected per question, check the 'Allow Multiple Answers per line' option in the optional formatting section
2.2 Rank Choices
To Rank the answer choices, by only allowing an answer choice to be selected once for all questions, check the 'Rank answer choices' option in the optional formatting section
2.3 Choice text inline with question
To display the answer choices inline with each question, uncheck the 'Display Choices in Header Line' option in the optional formatting section
2.4 Additional Comment textbox
To add a comment box, choose the 'Add additional Comment text box' option in the optional formatting section
You can optionally change the label text, as well as the visible height and width of the text box
2.5 Matrix on same line as Question Header
To make the answer matrix appear on the same line as the question, choose the 'Display question/choices on the same line as the question header' option in the optional formatting section.
3. Textbox
Use this question type when you have a question that requires a text answer
The default for this question type is to display a three line textbox below the question.
3.1 Textbox on same line as Question
To make the textbox appear on the same line as the question, choose the 'Display textbox on the same line as the question' option in the optional formatting section.
4. Contact Information - Name, Address, Phone, Email etc
Use this question type to quickly select common demographic information questions
4.1 Multiple fields can be placed on the same line
To configure more than one textbox per line, choose the 'Display on same line' option in the optional formatting section.
5. Multiple Textboxes with Multiple types of data
Use this question type when you want to control the type of data that is entered.
Individual textboxes can be configured to allow these types of data, Text (No mumbers), Numeric, Email, Date and Time, Date, Time, US Phone, and US zip code.
6. Multi Level Drop down lists
Use this question type when you need multiple selections of related choices e.g. Car make, model and year
7. Literal Description, Images or YouTube Videos
Use this question type to add a text description, Images and Videos
Images can be uploaded, their size adjusted and an optional label displayed with each image.

Multiple Questions can be placed on the same line
To configure more than one question per line, choose the 'Display question on the same line as the previous question' option in the optional formatting section.
8.1 Full HTML text editor
All question and answer choice text can be customized with our full html editor to change the font, size, and color of text, insert hyperlinks and much more.
